It's not loaded with bells and whistles, and it doesn't need to be. It works well, just as expected. It's built solid, and folds up nice. Dirt simple to assemble. It took me five minutes to rip it out of the box and mount the saw to it. (comes with the bolts for the saw) Comes with a bar so you can use a saw with three mounting holes, if that's what you have. I bought mine at Lowes for $100. I just couldn't see paying twice that for another brand that does the same thing.

I tried out the Skil miter saw stand for several of my home products. The stand is solid as a rock and very easy to set up in around 25 minutes. It takes just a few bolts to fasten and your ready to go. Folds up into a small space for storage and pretty light weight. It is aluminum so it is very easy to move around. The miter saw bracket is very easy to install and take off. A great stand at a great price!

This is the stand I have been looking for. Don't need all the bells and whistles that run the price up. In fact I found this stand on sale at Lowe's for $89 and with the $10 off coupon (which made it $79) I just couldn't pass this up. Easy to assemble (about 15 minutes), sturdy, fold up for easy storage. Would definitely recommend.

Remember, only people with problems usually write negative reviews, there will always be someone with a problem. This saw is the first miter saw that i ever used, I am not a professional carpenter. If you want a professional saw used by professionals with profesional results, you need to spend three times this saw. I am using it for a deck and cutting huge peices of wood with very good success, i'm not looking for diamond cut angles under a microscope. This saw is getting a beating with 2=6''wood, treated too and its whaling away with no broken parts or problems. Its probably an entry level saw at $150.00 but a good name. I bought an extended warranty at the store so i am coverd for 2 years with full replacement, always get the extended warranty and buy it where you can take it back if its crap. It sells for $150 everywhere on line, I got it for $99.00 at menards, shop around, internet is not always the place to shop. All the major retailers in the cold weather areas get rid of... Read more

I bought this saw not expecting much. Well I was wrong, it has performed great. Good power not to loud cuts are pretty accurate and its pretty lite. For the average d.i.y'er its great if I made my living with a miter saw I wouldn't even think of buying this one but for the money you really cant go wrong im sure one 3x the price is bound to be nicer but this saw gets the job done.

I own a hardwood flooring business and we have 4 of these saws in use and 3 Dewalt 10" and 1 Hitachi. I had the Milwaukee Magnum 10" but sold it because it was too heavy and hard to use. These Makita 10" saws have a great feel to them and are prefered by our crews. We have never had a repair problem with them except for truing the fence which gets knocked out of square after extended use as is typical with all miter saws I've used. Overall the best 10" saw out there.

Note the DEWALT DW703 10" Miter saw is my second choice and is a good saw, however I did have a defective motor on a 1 week old saw.

You'd think it would be easy to find a miter saw that cut straights, angles, and bevels accurately (without having to adjust them every time), but alas no. I went through a couple of cheaper brands hoping to save a few bucks... live and learn. This saw doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some other brands, but it cuts true.

The tolerances of the Makita LS1040 are so tight that wafer thin pieces of wood can be shaved off and you can see through them. I am not lying. I shaved off pieces of 2x material and could see light through them. Also miter cuts in moldings are crisp and clean. I especially like tools with blade brakes because they are safer and blade changing is faster. Because of its light weight I have no problem transporting this saw from job to job. Sure a heavier slide saw will cut 2x10 and larger stock but honestly how often do I cut that on the job site with a miter saw... never.
