The cardboard box looked like it had been dragged behind the delivery truck instead of inside it. The bag holding the bolts was ripped open, and bolts and washers were scattered around on the inside of the box. One bolt was missing, but fortunately I had a compatible bolt already lying around the garage.(And here is where I have a real bone to pick with Makita. The directions said to immediately call if there were any parts missing, but of course they didn't bother to print a phone number! When I went to Makita's web site, the only numbers I could find were for local Makita dealers/repair shops. So I am supposed to call a local shop, from whom I didn't purchase the stand, and ask them to help me? Annoying!) The directions were ripped to shreds, making them very hard to read. (bought from Amazon), Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Makita 195083-4 Job Site Miter Saw Stand (Tools & Home Improvement) Not a review yet, just a warning. Just received this stand, have not used it yet. Bought from Amazon. The unit was clearly a repackaged demo of some kind, as a few critical bolts and washers were missing, the tape anti-skid patch on the foot bar was peeled back and scratched where it inserts into the unit. The design is a scissor folding leg which is sprung to assist in opening to lift the table. Unfortunately the person who repacked the unit did not latch it closed, must have sat on the box while taping the top. As soon as I cut the tape the box sprung open like a jack in the box. I had noticed the box appeared to be bulging, which must have subconsciously given me the suggestion to keep my face back. The spring is designed to lift the table with a 60 pound saw on it, so the the table came up quickly, and I was fortunate to not get hit.I have assembled the table minus the missing screws, at first glance looks solid enough. Read more 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful terrible flimsy packaging, This review is from: Makita 195083-4 Job Site Miter Saw Stand (Tools & Home Improvement) Received my miter saw stand today.The Fed Ex driver carried it across my driveway with bolts,washers and other parts spewing all over my driveway.One end of the cheapflimsy box was ripped open.The plastic bag that holds the parts was ripped open.One side of the box had a big gapeing hole in it as if something heavy had slammed into it.Upon inspection the square tube frame had a penetrating dent in it from the heavy item slamming into it,almost bending the frame.One of the brackets on the legs was bent,a few bolts and washers were missing.During assembly of the frame handle i had to use my tap and die set to thread one of the bolt holes,as the bolt would not thread into it.I guess Makita does not get to read its own reviews,all the other reviewers had the same problem as me.They should improve their packaging on this item. This is a heavy item that needs to be in a heavy duty box. |
